Exhibition: In the Eye of the Storm Modernism in Ukraine, 1900-1930s

Highlighting a wide range of artistic styles and cultural identities, this exhibition is the most comprehensive display to date of modern art in Ukraine during the first four decades of the twentieth century. The show consists of over 70 works, including oil paintings, sketches, collages, and theatre designs. Many of the exhibits are on loan from the National Art Museum of Ukraine and the Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema of Ukraine, both in Kyiv, thus ensuring the preservation of these items during the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In the Eye of the Storm comprises works by already famous artists, such as Kazimir Malevich, Alexandra Exter and El Lissitzky, as well as art produced by lesser-known figures, like Oleksandr Bohomazov and Mykhailo Boichuk, each of whom left an indelible mark on the country’s art and culture.
