A documentary about one of the most prominent artists of the 20th century, has been prepared for the 140th anniversary of Kazimir Malevich. It premiered for his birthday on February 23, 2019, in Kyiv, at a special International Forum held at the M17 Centre for Contemporary Art. The film includes little-known biographical information, new facts, memoirs of the artist’s contemporaries, and commentaries by researchers from around the world.
The author, RFE/RL Ukrainian Service journalist Dmytro Julai, said the goal of the film was “to point out the Ukrainian context that influenced Malevich’s life and shaped his aesthetic concepts.”
